"Eiscar's Old Hickory Smokehouse is a Cape tradition. Esicar's Old Hickory Smokehouse dates back to 1934, when Ed and Bess Esicar opened a small grocery store at 411 Broadway. Ed started curing and smoking a few sides of bacon and hams which he hung in the front window. They looked good and tasted great. A salesman from Chicago discovered the smoked meat and bought a good supply. He praised Esicar's to his friends and the business ballooned from there. In 1942, Esicar's moved to a larger building at 313 Broadway and then a few years later the company relocated to our present location at 1157 N. Kingshighway. The retail store serves the Cape area. Esicar's routinely ships via United Parcel to every state in the U.S.A. and abroad. After three generations, Esicar's Old Hickory Smokehouse is still owned by the family and still cures our hams, bacon and sausage the old fashion(ed) way. Then we smoke them over a hickory fire. If you like old fashion service, come see us." |
